Chamberlain is looking forward to its 60th anniversary celebrations in 2014. Wednesday 18th December 2013
Chamberlain Transport is gearing up for an extra special New Year, as it moves towards its 60th anniversary.
The family run logistics specialists in Crewe were founded by Gerald and Rachel Chamberlain in April 1954.
Over the last 60 years, the business has grown from two people and two vehicles to an established firm, with a fleet of over 35 vehicles employing more than 60 staff. They now operate from two sites and have an annual turnover of over £6million.
"2014 will be a special year for us and I’m extremely proud that, 60 years on from when my grandparents founded the firm, we remain a successful family business dedicated to the same values of high quality service," said Simon Chamberlain, director of Chamberlain Transport.
Today the business remains very much a family firm, with Gerald and and Rachel’s son Ted as the Chairman and his wife Mary currently the Company Secretary. Their sons Simon and Mark are joint managing directors and Simon’s wife Alison and Mark’s wife Cathy also work for the business.
"A major reason for our success is that we don’t run before we can walk. These principles were what my father founded the company on and what I have tried to pass on to my sons," said Ted Chamberlain.
"We might not be the biggest transport business but the firm is successful because, unlike many larger firms, we can offer a flexible service to customers’ needs and can respond quickly and efficiently when they need us to. This quality of service is what sets us apart and why I am confident the future will continue to be bright."
