Chamberlain on track with new vehicle Friday 7th December 2012
A specially designed truck for Chamberlain Transport is delivering rail components across the UK.
The Crewe based haulage specialist has added an MAN drawbar and trailer unit to its fleet to work exclusively on the company’s contract with Railcare.
“The truck enables us to transport twice as many rail components, reducing the number of journeys and saving the customer money. This also helps the environment as fewer vehicles are on the road,” said Simon Chamberlain, director of Chamberlain Transport.
Railcare repairs and overhauls train axles, bogies and wheel-sets which Chamberlain delivers to and from steel works, oil refineries and freight terminals across the UK.
The truck, a TGS 26.400 6x2 rigid, is equipped with a FASSI F310 crane with a seven-metre, flat-bed three-axle trailer.
“Because of the complexity of the locations the truck is delivering to it had to meet a very tight set of specifications but the support we received from MAN to get the vehicle ready to go has been first rate.”
